What a jam-packed month October has been, we have been busy crafting, fundraising, learning and laughing together.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and to help raise awareness we all came to JP wearing pink and joined in lots of fabulous activities including making key chains and plant pots as well as enjoying sensory trays which all the members absolutely loved.

We also hosted a fantastic Pyjama Day to raise vital funds for the Countess of Brecknock Hospice. Staff and members alike came in wearing their PJ’s and enjoyed glitter, tattoos, baking galore and thanks to all your generous donations we raised £115 for the hospice, so a big thank you to everyone who donated and made this day so successful. How fabulous does everyone look!

Friday 10th October was Mental Health Awareness Day and we marked this by making these beautiful green ribbons which we all wore with pride. A group of our member went out into the countryside for a ‘Walk and Talk’ session. Being out amongst nature has been proved to boost your mood and what better way to do it than with your friends. Fresh air, exercise and a good chat means smiles all round.

Throughout the month we have continued our additional weekly session which include dance and fitness, sensory activities and cooking. This has included our fun filled fitness bingo game, relaxing meditation and themed sensory tuff trays. We are so lucky here in Andover to have our sensory room which is specifically designed to be a calming and quiet space for members to relax in and we often find member enjoying this together after a busy day.

Chef Wendy and her team have been busy this month creating lots of delicious dinners which have been inspired by foods from around the world. We have sampled sweet and sour chicken, veggie lasagne and our much-loved banana curry.

We ended our action-packed month doing what we do best, having a party! Our Halloween bash saw everyone in their best scary costumes and we danced, sang, ate and enjoyed a variety of spooky sensory activities. Big shout out to our resident ghouls Phoebe and Chrissy for their amazing effort in transforming our hall into a spooky wonderland.
