Can you believe it we are nearly in March already! February was another busy month here at James’ Place.

The first week we used our imaginations and creativity with Disney as our theme.  Members baked Mickey Mouse biscuits, and I can say they were delicious, some members channelled their inner Nemo and made a new back drop for our fish tank.  We rocked in our Mickey Ears.  Frozen characters made and appearance with members designing Elsa and Ana new dresses after using a stencil to print their heads.   Fine motor skills were needs in the making of the house in the film UP.  We also had a cheeky trip to see Mufasa.

Valentines’ week followed with members creating beautiful cards and home-made chocolate truffles

Valentines’ week followed with members creating beautiful cards and home-made chocolate truffles (including the making of the box) for their loved ones.  Some members bought in gifts for each other also.  We enjoyed some dance and yoga sessions – because we love ourselves!  We had an outing to see some of our favourite animals in our favourite garden centre and because we LOVE animals so much, we invited our friend Lily from Pampered Piggies into visit us.

Our young visitors from Bright Horizons visited us with a beautiful note and equally beautiful flowers for their ‘spreading the LOVE around the community’ initiative.

Week three was vintage week, we turned the hands of time round at James’ Place creating platinum records because all our members are stars ***  we have taken a trip to the library and enjoyed reading to each other. Bread and butter pudding was on our throw back baking menu this week.  As spring has very nearly sprung we have taken a look what we can grow in our garden. Members have enjoyed playing cards and writing letters.

Farming Week rounded off our month with ‘milking’ our cow ‘Daisy’ visiting animals in our local community, creating mini farms for our sensory seekers.  We have been able to get into our garden now the weather is on the turn preparing our veg patches ready for sowing.

Lunch club

Our Tuesday Lunch club with our friends from Andover has ended after a very successful 6 weeks, making some lovely food but most of all learning new skills and increasing their independence, resulting in members trying new foods.  The last Lunch club we used this opportunity to celebrate one of our member’s birthdays making sandwiches, cheese and pineapple and individual mini birthday cakes.

Lunch club will be back at the beginning of March on a Friday with our friends from Basingstoke.
