This month we wanted to quote some of our members and their families on the experiences they have with James’ Place Eastleigh.

“Its so lovely to see J*** making things, well done everyone”Parent of member

At James’ Place Eastleigh we pride ourselves on creating a creative environment for our members to find their inner artists.  Art can positively impact mental health by reducing stress, enhancing mood and providing a creative outlet for self-expression.

Engaging in art, whether through creating or experiencing it can foster social connections, boost self esteem and improve overall wellbeing.

Examples of self-esteem through creativity.

Sense of community

Community and mental health are intertwined playing a vital role in fostering social cohesion.  Community art projects such as murals bring people together encouraging connection and mutual respect also breaking down barriers between different groups.

We are currently in the process of creating an amazing collaborative art piece to display at our upcoming open day.  Members are painting or making a flower and butterfly to add to our summer scene painted onto a large canvas.  Look out for it coming up on Facebook soon.

“C**** misses you all. Each day you are on his mind.  He loves looking at all the postings of you all doing wonderful things.” – Parent of member.

Our members love to spend their birthdays with us, our recent birthday was spent at a nightclub (in the afternoon)

“He had an amazing time” – Sister of member

Wider Community

A strong wider community is crucial for individuals and collective well-being it fosters a sense of belonging, improves mental and physical health and enables collaborative problem solving.

We have many links to the wider community including the local nursery and primary school.  We also have volunteers from the LD community such as a very talented young man who performers by singing and playing the guitar proving to our members that anything is possible, the sky is the limit.

“always a pleasure to entertain you”. J****

Our team are ever evolving and growing, most recently a team member tried baking bread in the air fryer for the first time and produced the most enormous loaf of bread. The member delighted in their success and yet again reinforced that anything is possible and at James’ Place we have a can do attitude and approached for everyone.

“I am so impressed, that is way better than anything I have made in mind. I am coming for lessons” – parent

We try to capture the Magic moments and parents and carers get to enjoy sharing the special times we share with our members one such photo prompted such a quote.

“Love that picture so much”

We strive to increase the independence of all our members and sometimes it’s the little things that parents and carers see and share that mean so much.

“Amazing day centre..madam come on leaps and bounds..we discussing what to take camping..madam pipes up..LOO ROLLS..something she wouldn’t of said before..nice stick of rocks coming Monday..madam missing you all.
