Spreading Kindness throughout our community:

We kicked off our first week with a beautiful theme, Random acts of kindness, creating floral bouquets for our local community to find, from cake bake sheds to local shops our flowers brought a smile to faces of many, included a lady who’s car had broken down and was feeling quite deflated until she was handed a stunning bunch of flowers from our members

Later in the week we visited a care home, we took along one of our favourite things to do, crafting, residents and members chatted and created some homemade cards to give to someone special.

PC Michelle stopped by for a cuppa taking a very carefully thought-out Question and answer session, members posing some tricky questions and some funny one such as who buys the cakes, we found out, the person buying the cakes is the person who makes a mistake….shhh don’t tell the members.

During this busy week we found time to host the monthly visit of children from the nursery, members to support children to explore our left-over pumpkins and paint firework paintings.

Week 2: Wellness Week/member choice week

One of our members loves Wicked and they created a Wicked game to play with their friends.  Later in the week members decorated a canvas bag to either keep or gift filling it with goodies.

A member of the team delivered some holistic hand massages.  We went on a trip to the garden society looking at the various animals and fish. One of our Friday members really enjoys Chocolate cake, you can always guarantee they want to make a chocolate cake so we did…yum

Week 3

Pets

Well, someone I’m sure has a pet robot, so we went to watch the film Wild Robot (a stretch I know but we love the inclusive cinema, biscuits and squash halfway through) it was also a Birthday treat for one of our members who isn’t keen on a fuss but very keen on the cinema! Who are we to argue?

The group looked through books to find their fantasy pet, we discussed what we would need to keep the pet alive, where it would live and what it would need to be looked after well, I am not too sure a whale in a bath would entirely work though!

During this week we met up with another care provider and his friends Care by Chris and challenged them to our annual bowling event, I am not sure who the winners were but, hey does it matter? We had a blast.

Week 5

Horrible Histories

This week began with the Tudor, Lunch club was back to basics as the Tudors would have eat, meat and veg (well, chicken nuggets, carrots and a choice of mash or chips) all made in an air fryer and cooking pot, yes, we need an award for this alone.  Followed by plum crumble (still using the plums up from the summer foraging trip).  Later we learnt a medieval dance wearing our homemade crowns, finding appropriate songs was tricky…  I am sure they Abba was around in the Tudor period?

The week continues with Rotten Romans, our very own Toga party and food tasting, hummus, pitta, olives, cheese, Grapes (sadly, no one peeled them for us).

Followed by Slimy Stuarts and Egyptians

We have discovered the most amazing game of Horrible Histories, we are learning so many fun facts along the way.

This week brought all 3 locations together to work on our Christmas Tree submission for the Christmas Tree trail at St Barnabas Church in Winchester

We will be visiting all the other entries as well as attending the shepherds trail an immersive experience explaining the Christmas story and lessons we can live from even today.

Finally, after a couple of postponements we arrived at Marwell on a fresh and crispy morning, members armed with Zoo walking windows to go in search of their favourite animals, we searched our Marty, we the Zebra …Disney fans will get the reference.
