James’ Place December 2025
Christmas spirit has been in full swing at James’ Place as our members have enjoyed a variety of festive activities together. We kicked things off with a fun and laughter-filled trip to the pantomime Puss in Boots, followed by our Christmas showcase where members proudly shared their talents with their loved ones. The members have also made handmade Christmas gifts and came together to cook and enjoy very our own Christmas lunches. We finished off this JP month with a singsong in our local church, what a way to spread the Christmas cheer!
Oh Yes, We Did!
Our festive trip to the Theatre Royal in Winchester to see the pantomime Puss in Boots was a wonderful day out and a firm favourite with our members. The lively story followed a clever and cheeky cat who used his quick thinking to help the King get rid of the rats invading his land, while also playing matchmaker by helping Princess Claudine find her true love. The show was full of colourful characters, humour, and audience participation, which our members absolutely loved. There was plenty of enthusiastic booing and cheering throughout, and the energetic dance numbers had everyone joining in with a little dance from their seats. A clear favourite moment was the 12 Days of Christmas song, where the characters brought out a series of hilarious props – the “five toilet rolls” had everyone laughing in their seats, especially when they were “accidentally” flung into the audience. We were also very grateful to the theatre staff, who were incredibly helpful and welcoming, and we are already looking forward to returning for next year’s pantomime.
Festive Cheer all Around
Our JP Christmas Showcase was a wonderful and festive celebration, bringing members, loved ones, and the team together to reflect on the year and enjoy some seasonal fun. Members worked hard to prepare a delicious selection of Christmas treats, including Christmas tree pastries, chocolate brownies, candy cane cookies, and rice Krispie “Christmas” puddings, which were a big hit and enjoyed by all. Alongside the baking, the art room was filled with creativity, offering Christmas crafts such as decorating personalised nutcrackers and painting festive Christmas rocks, giving everyone the chance to get hands on and creative.
There was plenty happening across James’ Place, with Christmas song bingo in the main room creating lots of laughter and sing along moments, while the sensory room offered a quieter space with a slideshow of photos showcasing memorable moments and activities from throughout the year. The showcase was also a valuable opportunity for members loved ones to spend time with the team, chat about the activities we’ve been enjoying, and celebrate the progress and achievements of our members in a warm, welcoming festive atmosphere.
Creative Touches for Those Dear
In the lead-up to Christmas, our members enjoyed spending time making thoughtful handmade gifts to share with others. They created delicious orange fudge, colourful Christmas cards, festive reindeer food, and hot chocolate cones, carefully putting time and effort into each one. The sessions were full of creativity and festive cheer, with members taking pride in preparing gifts that were both personal and meaningful. It was a lovely way for everyone to get into the Christmas spirit while thinking of others and spreading a little festive joy.
Ready, Steady, Christmas!
Our members had a fantastic time preparing their own Christmas lunches, fully embracing the festive spirit. In the morning, they peeled carrots, chopped potatoes, and mixed batter, all working together to create a delicious Christmas roast with all the trimmings. They also helped set the tables, adding festive touches with crackers and centrepieces to make the meal feel extra special. With Christmas music playing in the background, everyone enjoyed not only the tasty food but also the wonderful company, making it a truly memorable and heartwarming celebration
Deck the Halls
In the final week of James’ Place this year, we had a truly special outing to Cliddesden Church for a Makaton sing-along, joining the nearby school and nursery for a festive celebration. Together, we learned and performed three classic Christmas songs: We Wish You a Merry Christmas, Holly Jolly Christmas, and Jingle Bell Rock. Everyone joined in with singing and dancing, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere that had smiles all around.
The highlight of the visit was listening to the nativity story, which was brought to life in a unique and interactive way. Each member had painted a character ahead of time and brought it to the church to help tell the story, making the experience inclusive and engaging for all. It was wonderful to see everyone participating and enjoying the sense of community and togetherness. The visit was a perfect way to end the year, celebrating music, movement, creativity, and the true spirit of Christmas alongside our local community.
This festive season at James’ Place has been full of laughter, creativity, and togetherness. It’s been a heartwarming end to the year, leaving everyone excited for the memories yet to come in the New Year. Thank you and see you in the New Year.
