Charity Community and recycling saw our members gaining a greater understanding of what can and can not be recycled and making good use of materials that could be reused. So we didn’t get muddled up the members made a sign for our recycle bin.  A visit to a local charity shop made us all think of buying second hand rather than disposable fashion.

In Books and Literacy Week members had great fun challenging themselves to look at a book in unusual places, we were reading on swings, laying down in the park, whilst we were driving to the park (not the driver though you would be pleased to know).  One of our life skills we are developing is reading so we joined our local library in Chandlers Ford, the members learned how to scan books in and out, they have the responsibility of looking after the books whilst they are at James Place and returning them on time.  We loved this so much we have now included this as a regular activity that has been built into our week.

Holidays week got us thinking where we have been or where we would like to go on holiday, looking at the world map, and making a gorgeous window display that reminds us of sunnier times.  The weather was kind to us and we managed to enjoy our stunning garden having water fights, as well as playing holiday games such as hook the duck.  Our Vegetable patch is still giving us some lovely crops, we experimented with a chocolate and beetroot cake, it was rather delicious. We are planning what we will be planting next year, tomatoes and carrots are a firm favourite. We make some lovely soups with them.
Marvel and DC week, we all became superheroes (well more superhero than we already are anyway).  We used one of our books we found in our community library (the type where people donate books for others to take).  We found Hero’s with similar attributes to ourselves and struck poses.

All of our weeks have included trips out and about in the community, walks in the sunshine, and even lying on the grass cloud-watching.

This week we have been showcasing the teams’ interests and hobbies giving each group leader a day to share them with the members.  Kat brought a great morning of mindfulness and her love of baking, Hayley introduced the members to her love of the great outdoors, members painted her a new paddle board design and made leaf printing joined by our friends from Basingstoke James’ Place.  Laura is helping members to discover their inner fairy tale passion she has taken inspirations from the Brothers Grimm and exploring The Garden Society.
