Another month has flown by, bringing us one step closer to summer, although we’ve already been lucky enough to enjoy some beautiful sunshine.
April kicked off with Easter, which brought plenty of fun and creativity. We started by making colourful sun-catchers to brighten up the windows, followed by designing our own Easter bonnets; everyone had such imaginative ideas. We’ve also made the most of the lovely weather with lots of sunny walks, as well as painting plant pots and planting seeds ready for our garden to bloom.
At lunch club, we got busy in the kitchen creating a delicious sweet potato curry, followed by an amazing chocolate cake…because let’s be honest, everyone loves cake!
Easter came and went…just like the chocolate! That took us straight into Oceans Week, where we explored everything under the sea. We got creative making paper plate fish and painting bright puffer fish, and even tried a spot of fishing in the garden—although some of the fish were a little shy!
Things got wonderfully silly with our underwater-themed obstacle course. We were caught in whirlwinds, walked the plank, caught jellyfish, and even slayed a sea monster along the way. The parachute was, as always, a big hit—bringing lots of laughs and smiles and really bringing everyone together.
A visit to the garden centre was a lovely change of pace, where we enjoyed watching the fish and feeding the hungry koi outside. We also had a fantastic trip to the sea-life centre, spending time watching all the different fish, followed, of course, by a cheeky trip to the chip shop for some chips by the sea.
We’ve continued to make the most of the sunshine with walks out and a relaxing trip to the park, enjoying time on the swings before jumping into Decades Week. We kicked things off by exploring a 1970s-themed birthday party—what it was like and what people ate. There were lots of fun games and some classic treats like cheese and pineapple, sandwich spread, and angel delight.
