What a month May has been here at The Pavilion Eastleigh! With spring in full swing, sunshine gracing us with record-breaking temperatures, and plenty of exciting activities taking place, it’s safe to say we have all been kept very busy — and very entertained!

We also celebrated some fantastic achievements within the team this month. Hayley has stepped into her new role as Location Manager, and Helen has been recognised for her hard work, care, and dedication with her appointment as Senior Group Leader. Congratulations to you both — very well deserved!

Week 1 – Safari Adventures and Circus Fun

This week brought plenty of energy, creativity, and laughter. Squash sessions with Active LD continued to be a firm favourite, with members thoroughly enjoying spending time with Betty and Brian while developing new skills, building friendships, and staying active.

The creativity continued with circus-themed arts and crafts, including colourful props for our very own puppet show. We also spent time discussing friendship — what makes a good friend and how our friends make us feel. It was wonderful hearing members share such thoughtful and kind reflections.

Our safari theme proved hugely popular, with members creating fantastic animal artwork. Giraffes and lions were definitely top of the popularity list! To finish the week, we slowed things down with safari yoga and relaxation sessions — a calm ending to a busy and exciting week.

Week 2 – Movie Magic and Mental Wellbeing

This month’s Lunch Club was a huge success. Members worked together to prepare a delicious sweet potato curry followed by fruit salad, and the results were clearly enjoyed by all — we had clean plates all round!

Cooking together continues to provide so many valuable opportunities, from building independence and confidence to encouraging members to try new foods in a positive and social environment.

The week’s movie theme brought plenty of discussion, laughter, and nostalgia as members took part in a movie quiz and shared their favourite films. There were lots of memorable clips watched, plenty of debate, and even more laughter.

Of course, all this excitement worked up an appetite, so homemade apple crumble made the perfect tea break treat.

As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, we also focused on positivity and self-esteem. Members took time to share kind words about one another and, most importantly, practise positive self-talk. Ending the week on kindness, confidence, and appreciation felt incredibly special.

Week 3 – Eurovision, Life Skills, and Superheroes

This week was certainly a colourful mix of themes — but sometimes the best weeks are!

Eurovision celebrations had us travelling down memory lane, revisiting iconic performances from ABBA to Euphoria. Members enjoyed scoring the performances themselves, and thankfully there were very few “nil points” handed out!

Flag bingo also proved surprisingly competitive, with members showing off impressive knowledge of world flags. One thing became very clear though — red, white, and blue flags were everyone’s speciality!

life skills

Life Skills Day saw members enthusiastically helping with cleaning and household tasks. Hayley’s office windows have never sparkled quite so much, and Henry the hoover certainly earned a rest after being in such high demand!

The warm weather continued throughout the week, bringing plenty of outdoor fun. Between water fights, garden games, ice lollies, and sneaky water pistol attacks on unsuspecting staff members, there was never a dull moment. We’re still not entirely sure who enjoyed it more — the members or the team!

Week 4 – Moon, sky, space and a SHOWCASE!

The sunshine continued into week four, along with more garden fun, cooling ice lollies, and plenty of laughter. With another bank holiday shortening the week, members embraced a more relaxed pace while helping to create props for our exciting new sensory room project.

Our moon, sky, and space theme inspired members to make weather sensory jars, which everyone found calming, engaging, and therapeutic.

The highlight of the week, however, was undoubtedly our Showcase event. Families and carers joined us to celebrate everything our members have achieved and to see the fantastic work taking place across the location.

Most exciting of all, we proudly celebrated reaching — and exceeding — 100 members across James’ Place Adult Daycare!

This is an incredible milestone in our journey and a true reflection of the friendships, support, and community that continue to grow every day. We are so proud of what

has been achieved and look forward to welcoming many more new friends in the future.

Here’s to another fantastic month ahead!
