July at James’ Place Adult daycare
July has been another fantastic month at James’ Place Adult daycare, packed with creativity, laughter, learning and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the sunshine! From themed weeks and community projects to exciting outings and our ever-popular Friday dance sessions, there has been something for everyone to get involved in.
We kicked off the month with a Tropical Island theme, bringing holiday vibes to James Place. Members enjoyed taking part in a variety of tropical-inspired activities, embracing the bright colours, relaxed atmosphere and summer spirit. It was a wonderful way to welcome the warmer weather and get everyone in the mood for a fun-filled month.
Our second week saw us stepping into our very own Time Machine! Members had great fun creating a homemade time machine before travelling through different decades to explore how life has changed over the years. We looked back at different eras, shared memories and enjoyed dancing our way through the decades to some classic tunes. It was lovely to see everyone reminiscing, singing along and showing off their best dance moves.
Festival fever arrived during week three as James Place transformed into its own colourful celebration. Members got creative by making bright and cheerful bunting before enjoying a festival party filled with music, fun and plenty of smiles. The atmosphere was fantastic, with everyone embracing the festival spirit and celebrating together.
To finish the month, we added a little magic to our days with our Magical Week. Members became potion makers, creating colourful sensory potions and exploring different textures, colours and reactions. The activities encouraged creativity, sensory exploration and lots of curiosity, with some wonderfully imaginative magical creations being made.
As always, we enjoyed getting out and about in the community. The warmer weather made a visit to the splash park the perfect way to cool down, while trips to the cinema, our local park and the local pub gave members the opportunity to socialise, relax and enjoy spending time together outside of the centre. These outings continue to build confidence, independence and friendships while creating lasting memories.
Our popular Cook Your Own Lunch session returned once again, with members preparing a delicious homemade meal of turkey burgers served with potato salad and coleslaw. Everyone got involved with the preparation, developing their cooking skills and independence while enjoying the satisfaction of sharing a meal they had created together.
This month we were also proud to create a beautiful summer display for our local church. Members worked together to produce a colourful display that reflects the joy and brightness of the season. We hope members of the local community enjoy seeing it as much as we enjoyed making it.
One of the biggest highlights of every week continues to be our Friday sessions with Move Momentum. These energetic dance sessions have quickly become a firm favourite, with members eagerly looking forward to ending each week with music, movement and lots of laughter. It’s a fantastic way to build confidence, keep active and celebrate everything we’ve achieved throughout the week.
July has been another month full of friendship, creativity and fun. We can’t wait to see what exciting adventures August has in store!
