Summer has brought plenty of smiles, laughter, and new adventures to James’s Place Reading. This month has been particularly exciting as we’ve welcomed our very own James’s Place bus, giving us even more opportunities to get out into the community together. Having our own bus means we can enjoy new experiences, discover local places, and creating lasting memories along the way.
We’ve also been embracing the summer spirit with our seaside-themed arts and crafts, where members have enjoyed getting creative. As always, we’ve been making the most of the beautiful weather by heading outdoors for gentle walks and exploring the lovely countryside around us. Whether we’re chatting as we stroll or simply taking in the fresh air and scenery, these moments together are always special.
With the summer sunshine in full swing, we’ve also found some fun ways to keep cool! Our members enjoyed making their own delicious ice creams, choosing from a selection of tasty toppings and colourful sprinkles to create the perfect summer treat. We also got creative by mixing up our own refreshing mocktails, which were a big hit on the warmer days.
Since getting our new bus, we’ve already enjoyed some wonderful trips out. One of our favourite visits was to the Thatcham Discovery Centre, where members loved feeding the wide variety of ducks and geese and spending time surrounded by nature. We also enjoyed a relaxing trip to a local garden centre, where everyone tucked into a delicious lunch and had the chance to browse the plants and gifts. On one of the hottest days of the month, we were very grateful for a visit to the café at the Base Greenham Arts Gallery, where the cool air conditioning provided a welcome escape from the heat while we enjoyed refreshments and good company. We can’t wait to see where our James’s Place bus takes us next!
