Hello JP Readers!
It’s been lovely to see our JP members making the most of the warmer weather and getting outside whenever they can. The sunshine has brought a real sense of energy and fun to James’ Place Reading, with everyone enjoying plenty of fresh air, laughter and time together.
Sun and Smiles
Our members have been getting involved in looking after our tomato plants and flowers, watering them and watching them grow. It’s been great to see everyone taking pride in the garden and enjoying a little bit of gardening along the way. And, of course, the sunshine has also meant plenty of water fights! There have been lots of
smiles, laughter and a few very wet members as everyone have enjoyed cooling off together.
We’ve also been getting out and about and exploring our local area. Walks and trips to places such as Theale Park and Shaw House have given us the chance to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, get some exercise and spend time together away from the centre. Whether we’re out exploring, tending to the garden or simply enjoying the sunshine, it’s these everyday moments that make such a difference.
Building Confidence and New Connections It’s been wonderful to see our new JP members growing in confidence and
developing their social skills through visits to our other James’ Place locations. These trips have been a great opportunity for members to step outside of their usual environment, meet new people and enjoy new experiences in a relaxed and supportive setting. A particular favourite has been the ball pit at James’ Place
Basingstoke, which has been a huge hit! There have been plenty of smiles, laughter and fun as members have enjoyed exploring the ball pit together and getting to know people from different JP locations. Seeing our members becoming more comfortable, starting conversations and building new friendships has been fantastic,
and these shared experiences are helping them feel more confident and connected
as part of the wider JP community.
Cooking Up a Storm at James’ Place This month, our JP members have been busy in the kitchen, developing their
cooking skills, building confidence and practising how to follow instructions and work through recipes step by step. One of the highlights was making a delicious apple and blackberry crumble, with the blackberries being picked during our daily walks around the beautiful Yattendon countryside. It was lovely to see the members turn the fruit
they had collected themselves into something they could all enjoy together. We’ve also been busy making Victoria sponge cake, flapjacks, rocky road and lemon bars, giving everyone the opportunity to practise measuring ingredients, following recipes, using kitchen equipment safely and working as a team. There’s been plenty of
creativity, learning and, of course, lots of tasting along the way! It’s fantastic to see our members becoming more confident in the kitchen and taking pride in what they have created.
As we look ahead to the coming months, we’re excited to continue creating more opportunities for our members to learn, explore, have fun and make memories together. Here’s to another month of making the most of every moment at James’ Place Adult Daycare Reading!
