It’s been another busy and exciting month here at JP Reading! Our members have enjoyed being creative with new art projects, cooking and baking, as well as heading out and about on our JP bus for some fun trips. Here are some of our September highlights!

Great British Bake off Our members have been busy building their cooking skills and confidence in the kitchen this month! We’ve tried a fantastic variety of recipes, including delicious carrot cake cupcakes, homemade pasta with a tasty sauce, pizzas and cheesy scones. Along the way, members have been developing their understanding of how to follow a recipe, using a combination of words and symbols to help guide them through each step. It’s been wonderful to see everyone getting involved, learning new skills and becoming more independent in the kitchen, while taking pride in the delicious food they have created!Let Creativity Thrive Our members have been exploring their creativity through a fantastic range of art projects this month, while developing their teamwork and communication skills along the way. They have designed and created their very own tops, giving them the opportunity to express their individual styles and ideas. We’ve also explored different painting techniques from around the world, including Australian dot painting. With the change into Autumn as one of our themes, members have worked together to create colourful Autumnal decorations for our JP Barn. A real highlight has been the teamwork involved in building our very own scarecrow. On the road again! Our members have been busy getting out and about on the JP bus this month, developing valuable life skills along the way. Trips to the shops have given members the opportunity to practise choosing and buying resources for the Barn and our activities, helping to build confidence and independence. We’ve also been keeping active with visits to a trampoline park and our local outdoor gym. Alongside this, we’ve been embracing the great outdoors by exploring local walks and parks around the Thatcham and Theale areas. It’s been a fantastic month of learning, staying active and enjoying our local community! What a fantastic and busy September we’ve had!
