June has been a busy and rewarding month at James’ Place, with our members coming together to make the most of the longer, warmer days. From helping to decorate the barn as part of our exciting JP Group Project, to showing great teamwork and enthusiasm at our annual JP Sports Day, there has been plenty to celebrate. We’ve also enjoyed getting out into nature with refreshing walks through our local woodlands

This month, our members have continued transforming the JP Barn into a more colourful, welcoming, and creative space for everyone to enjoy. Using the marble painting techniques they have been practising, they created vibrant handmade bunting, adding a splash of colour and personality throughout the barn. Members have also been adding to our collaborative wall art piece, creating an eye-catching display that reflects everyone’s creativity and teamwork. Outside in the JP garden, members have been busy caring for our growing strawberries and planting tomato plants, helping to create a space that will continue to flourish over the summer months. It’s been wonderful to see everyone taking pride in making the barn and garden feel even more like home.

For the past few weeks, our members have been eagerly preparing for the annual JP Sports Day by practising a variety of games and activities during their sessions. It was fantastic to see everyone encouraging one another, building confidence, and developing their teamwork skills in the lead-up to the big event. On 16th June, members from all the James’ Place locations came together for a fun-filled day of friendly competition and celebration. The day featured a fantastic mix of traditional sports day races and unique challenges, including egg and spoon races, football goal shooting, and the always-entertaining fancy dress relay race. One of the biggest highlights of the day was the crowd favourite, “Soak the Staff,” where members had the chance to cool off while getting their own back on the staff in good spirits! Throughout the day

there was plenty of laughter, encouragement, and celebration as members cheered each other on and gave every activity their best effort. During lunch, everyone enjoyed a refreshing ice cream treat, providing the perfect opportunity to relax, socialise, and recharge before the afternoon’s events. Sports Day was a wonderful success, bringing all the James’ Place communities together and creating lasting memories through fun, friendship, and shared achievement.

With the warmer weather continuing throughout June, our members have enjoyed regular walks through the cool, shaded local woodlands, providing the perfect opportunity to get outdoors, stay active, and appreciate the beauty of nature. Along the way, members have been delighted to spot a variety of wildlife, including graceful deer, colourful pheasants, and cheerful blackbirds. The woodlands have also been bursting with seasonal beauty, with vibrant foxgloves lining the paths and dragonflies and butterflies flying between them. These outings have become a favourite activity for many of our members.
