Music, Motivation and free thinking is what we have been doing this past month. Singing and dancing is one of our greatest passions as we feel it’s one of the best ways to express ourselves in many different ways on a day-to-day basis. Singing along to our favourite songs and creating our own is one of our favourite things to do. Listening to songs we know and making up our own lyrics is quite difficult however we get so much enjoyment out of doing it and the end results are incredible. We find this is also good for strengthening areas of the brain like concentration, speech and listening skills. We also love dancing which we do most days and if we could do it multiple times a day we would! We are currently working on making our own James’ Place dance routine up which we can’t wait to see the results and share it with everyone!
This week we had an unexpected dancer join us… It was Danielle! None of us realised she could dance but it turns out she was really good! We hope she comes again.
Have a listen to this video of one of our members Eric singing our new James’ Place song which he made up himself. Isn’t it fantastic!
Amy’s favourite thing to do is to sing and dance and the smile on her face brightens everybody’s day!
And as for Joanna she is our star!
We also have been discussing what everyone would like to do to motivate themselves more. Most members said they would love to play more sport outside when the weather is nice. We love to play badminton, tennis, basketball and football! We find this helps with our fitness, motor skills and team work. A lot of our members also love to throw a ball for Max, he is really good at chasing after it but not so good at dropping it! This is something we are working on teaching him.
We are also extremely lucky to have the beautiful countryside surrounding us where we are based in Hatherden which means we can go for lovely walks whilst exploring what is around us. We moan a lot before going on a walk but once we are out, we realise how much we love it!
Friday afternoons after tea break, we like to all sit together and chat about what we are all going to do at the weekend. This is a good way to work on our listening skills whilst also having fun hearing about what everyone is going to get up to! This is also a good way to hear new ideas and plan new trips and outings based off suggestions from our members on what they like to do and where they like to go.
