This month we have been very busy!

The members have been going to Lidl every Thursday morning to go on a shopping trip and purchase their ingredients for Wendy’s cooking sessions. We have cooked sausages in a roll, homemade pizza, salad bowls, jacket potatoes and vegetable curry. For our desserts we have enjoyed creating mocktails, fruit salads and jelly and custard. The members love helping each other create their meals as well as learning the Makaton signs throughout the preparation.

During our may time theme, we enjoyed setting up a maypole in the garden, wrapping ribbons round and dancing it was very fun. We have also been making cardboard vases, collages and creating displays to go up in the craft room.

A few of us made some lovely fairy cupcakes and fairy doors to go with our mythical theme. Lynne also planned an amazing interactive snow-white story with props and a cauldron games and bingo which was great!

The great outdoors was another theme this week, we had a wonderful day creating bonfire pictures using different materials such as moss, twigs and creating flames by blowing the paint. We then made our own campfire in the hall using different resources and our handmade craft fire to then tell stories around it, the members loved it!

We absolutely loved our guided meditation session with Megan, the members and staff enjoyed a moment of calm to reflect on things that make us happy, we are looking forward to making this a regular part of our fitness and wellbeing sessions during the week.

A beautiful morning was spent at Charlton Lakes, the members enjoyed taking their fitness session outside and going on the equipment at the park. Everyone then took a stroll round the lakes and visited the ducks!
Laura and Megan have been running fantastic dance sessions with plastic sticks on a Tuesday morning and a Thursday afternoon! The music is pumping, the disco lights are shinning and the atmosphere in the room is full of laughter and excitement, it has become an exciting part of everybody’s week to look forward too!

This month a small group of us visited our friends at Eastleigh JP for lunch, we helped each other create structures out of spaghetti sticks and marshmallows and had a competition, it was great fun! We have enjoyed spending more time outdoors, going to the park, the pub every week, bean bag games have been very fun too! We also had a singer called Chloe to come in to perform for us during May, it was a truly wonderful afternoon dancing and singing together. We hope everybody had a lovely month and we look forward to see what June brings!
