Week 1 was a split week from June, and we finished it on a high note with our fantastic Musicals theme! Who doesn’t love a good sing-along?
The members had an amazing time creating their very own musical instruments before putting them to good use with lots of singing, dancing, and making joyful noise together. We watched some favourite musical clips, enjoyed plenty of dance breaks, and topped it all off with some wonderfully wacky musical dress-up fun. There were smiles, giggles, and laughter everywhere you looked!
Week 2
Week 2 whisked us away to a beautiful tropical island paradise! With the sunshine continuing, it was the perfect excuse to embrace all things summery.
Our members enjoyed delicious fruity mocktails, cooling ice lollies, refreshing water games, and relaxing foot spas to help beat the heat. Creativity was in full swing as everyone worked together to create a stunning textured beach painting. We had so much fun experimenting with different ways to paint, using everything from brushes and sponges to washing-up scrubbers—and, of course, our hands! The finished masterpiece was just as vibrant and unique as the wonderful people who created it.
When it was time for a quieter moment, Helen’s Book Club provided the perfect escape from the summer warmth. Members thoroughly enjoy reading and discussing the stories together, sharing their thoughts, exploring emotions, and listening to each other’s ideas. These sessions continue to be a favourite, offering a wonderful opportunity for conversation, connection, and reflection in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
It was another week filled with sunshine, creativity, laughter, and plenty of tropical fun!
Week 3 – Time Machine Adventures!
What a whirlwind of a week! We climbed aboard our imaginary time machine and travelled through the ages, discovering fascinating moments from history along the way.
Our first stop was the Georgian era, where we enjoyed traditional parlour games and got busy baking delicious scones. Of course, no baking session would be complete without a taste test, and we’re pleased to report they were absolutely delicious!
Next, we journeyed all the way back to Ancient Egypt. The warm weather certainly helped us imagine life in the desert as we explored the incredible history of this fascinating civilisation. Members shared their favourite facts and worked together to create an amazing fact board, packed with interesting discoveries. Did you know that party guests would wear cones of scented animal fat on their heads, which slowly melted down their faces throughout the celebration
Just when we thought our adventures couldn’t get any more exciting, we set sail with the pirates! Everyone made their very own pirate hat before heading off on a thrilling treasure hunt. There were plenty of smiles, laughter, and excitement as we searched for hidden treasure… and, of course, no pirate adventure would be complete without taking a turn to walk the plank!
It was a week full of discovery, creativity, adventure, and lots of laughter as we travelled through time together.
Week 4 – No summer is complete without a festival… or two!
What a fantastic week we’ve had, full of colour, laughter and festival fun! Our members got wonderfully creative, making their own fabulous fans to help keep cool in the sunshine, alongside bright and colourful kites and carnival masks that filled the week with smiles.
There was plenty of teamwork too, as everyone put their strength to the test, ripping strips of fabric to create beautiful bunting that now adds a splash of colour to our lovely garden. It was amazing to see everyone working together to create something so cheerful for everyone to enjoy.
Our music sessions brought lots of laughter and friendly competition with a lively game of Name That Tune. Beulah also challenged everyone by playing different rhythms for members to listen to and play back, with some brilliant performances all round!
And what festival would be complete without face painting and glitter tattoos? There were plenty of sparkling smiles as everyone enjoyed adding a little extra festival magic to the celebrations.
In between all the excitement, we slowed the pace with some peaceful riverside walks. Members enjoyed the refreshing shade beneath the trees, the gentle breeze and watching the ducks glide by – a lovely way to relax and soak up the beauty of a summer’s day.
What a joyful week of creativity, music, friendship and fun, making wonderful memories together!
Week 5 – We finished the month with a touch of magic!
What a truly enchanting way to end an unforgettable month! Our members discovered their inner magicians, learning some incredible magic tricks and delighting Danielle with their amazing performances. There were plenty of smiles, laughs and moments of wonder as everyone showed off their new magical skills.
The magic continued with potion making, creating fabulous magic wands and designing beautiful mystical dream catchers, each one as unique as its creator. Creativity was in full flow, and imaginations ran wild throughout the week.
Of course, no magical adventure would be complete without a few special treats! Members enjoyed delicious meringue marshmallow clouds and celebrated National Cheesecake Day with a tasty slice of cheesecake, making the week even sweeter.
As July comes to a close, we’ve been looking back on a month filled with sunshine, creativity, friendship, laughter and so many wonderful memories. From festivals and riverside walks to magical moments and sweet treats, it’s been a summer to remember.
